Background

Founded in 2005, Digital Opportunity Trust Kenya (DOT Kenya) is intentionally committed to mobilising and inspiring all underserved and disadvantaged young people with digital literacy, 21st-century skills, and the self-confidence that will enable them to thrive in an inclusive digital economy. We support young people to become innovators and leaders, and empower them to create and apply digital solutions that have a positive impact in their communities. 

In efforts to enhance our mission, DOT Kenya seeks to engage young vibrant leaders from across Kenya to be part of our Community Leadership Program. This is a one year trainer initiative that offers highly motivated young people with a desire to impact their communities an opportunity to be exposed to the mission of DOT.  It not only allows young people to bring new perspectives, creativity, innovative skills, ICT skills but also get an opportunity for professional development and enhance their CVs with practical work experience to enable them to transition into new opportunities.

About the role

Through this program, Community Leaders will play a pivotal role in delivering DOT Kenya’s Digital Literacy and Internet Safety curriculum to young people across Kenya. This initiative is designed to advance gender equality and promote an inclusive digital economy, empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds to thrive in the digital economy.

Requirements

  • A young individual between 18 and 35 years.
  • A university or college graduate residing in Kenya.
  • Graduates in fields such as Gender Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, or Education are highly preferred.
  • Possess strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Proven experience in managing or working with groups, community engagement, and mobilization.
  • Demonstrated involvement in projects or activities related to digital skills, gender inclusion, social work, or community development.
  • Owns a smartphone and has access to a computer.
  • Available for the next 14 months
