StartUp! is DOT's trademark enterprise program. It builds on the foundations of ReachUp! and focuses on developing the technology knowledge and business acumen of owners of small businesses that are developing, under stress or in transition in local communities. StartUp! encompasses entrepreneurship training, combined with access to finance through established partnerships, ongoing coaching and mentorship to support the growing number of young people who want to start or grow a business. StartUp! program provides participants with tools and training that helps to build successful and sustainable businesses by connecting them to local market opportunities, business services, and microfinance opportunities.
Program Model & Reach
DOT trains young Kenyan Interns to become business coaches and mentors in their communities, supporting emerging local entrepreneurs. DOT Kenya recruits and empowers young University graduates (Interns) strengthening their business, technology and coaching skills and deploy them to partner community based organizations.
StartUp! Is designed to drive the expansion of Youth-Led businesses in high growth sectors.
StartUp! reaches entrepreneurs in marginalized communities, including associations of women entrepreneurs who are connected to market opportunities, local business services and micro-finance. While delivering StartUp! in their communities, DOT Interns strengthen their own business and facilitation skills, improve their employability and polish their entrepreneurial self-confidence.
