CALL FOR CONSULTANCY: CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT FOR GIG WORKERS

Terms of Reference

Curriculum Development Consultant 

DOT Kenya is in need of a Consultant:  for a 6 month project to develop and test  curriculum for women in gig work. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Research:

Administer a needs survey to prospective participants to identify gaps and areas for capacity building.

Co-design for content creation:

Use the Human Centred Approach (HCD) to put beneficiaries at the centre of the content development process.

Conduct co-design sessions to validate needs assessment findings, identify and understand the problem, and work together to design a solution.

Content development:

  • Identify courses that meet the participants’ needs and develop a course outline 
  • Develop  modules plan for each course.
  • Create draft text for each module covering all main and sub-topics
  • Develop learning material.

Content Validation:

  • Host two online workshops
  • Organise and host 2 half-day hybrid validation workshops to ensure that content developed is concurrent and relevant for the needs of the target group.
  • Offer advice/guidance to the project team and the digitization company on packaging the learning materials in the form of an e-learning course hosted on the LMS platform.
  • Prepare a presentation capturing lessons learned and best practices to be shared with the project team during a 45 min meeting at the end of the project.

Competencies 

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and communication styles
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies
  • Knowledge in Content Digitization

Required Skills and Experience

Education & Work Experience

  • Masters degree in Education, Business Administration, or other related social science discipline.
  • At least 5 or more years of experience in curricula development in the following activities is required, on-line course design and deployment, and design and implementation of blended learning systems.
  • Experience working with a global learning management system is highly desirable.
  • Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of learning systems.
  • Experience in managing the development and deployment of training courses and systems desirable.
  • Understanding of programming and project management concepts, including results based management; gender analysis etc would be advantageous.
