The career fair dubbed 'career choices are your life choices' was held at the Kenya Red Cross, Kanduyi Branch. The fair whose main topic was on career planning and establishing businesses was well attended by 200 DOT participants some of whom graduated on the same day.
Key speakers included Violet Otidi the Career Trainer Manager from Equity Bank Bungoma branch, Violet Mureka, Deeva Beauty College Director and the Guest of Honor Peter Juma Nyikuri the Quality Assurance and Standards Officer at the Ministry of Youth, Gender and Sports in Bungoma County.
The main discussion was encouraging youth to access digital jobs and opportunities through their mobile phones which would help them overcome the financial challenges they faced. The youth were encouraged to equip themselves with relevant skills, become creative thinkers and come up with ways to employ their follow youth.

DOT Kenya’s Program Manager, Victor Kimanthi, discussed the concept of social entrepreneurship which he explained as businesses which were established to solve community problems. He cautioned the youth saying, "It is a tough journey where you need to be passionate about what you want to address or you will be disappointed along the way if you wanted to make money quickly."
Ms. Otidi, advised the youth to take up the free training skills offered and avoid having an impatient mentality which would make them take shortcuts ensuring they don’t achieve their dreams. While Mr. Nyikuri concluded by saying, "the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams’ adding that the youth should have big dreams but begin small to ensure their success."
