DOT Kenya is currently in the process of deploying 75 new Interns under the MasterCard Foundation Funded ReachUp! program. This is the fourth lot of Interns under the program, and will be in the field for the next nine months delivering ReachUp! in over 100 youth and community centers across the country.

DOT Kenya is currently in the process of deploying 75 new Interns under the MasterCard Foundation Funded ReachUp! program. This is the fourth lot of Interns under the program. A majority of the new Interns are expected to take over from the second group who graduated last week on Friday 11th while some will be venturing into new areas where DOT Kenya is pioneering the ReachUp! program. These include Nyamira in Nyanza, Subukia in Rift Valley and Kwale in Coast region.

The Interns underwent an intensive two week training and mentoring on how to facilitate the ReachUp! program to the community participants all over Kenya. The Interns were also trained on facilitation techniques, advocacy skills, project management and coaching skills.  The training also included practice-teaching sessions to ensure that the Interns were well prepared to deliver the ReachUp! program curriculum.

The MasterCard Foundation IV Interns are joining another group of  75 Interns- MasterCard Foundation III, currently facilitating the ReachUp! program in Western/Nyanza, Nairobi, North Eastern, Eastern, Coast and Rift Valley regions. During the nine month internship period, the Interns will empower youth and women in their communities on livelihoods, entrepreneurship and 21st century work skills while continously building on their professional development, advocacy and facilitation skills as well as creating professional linkages that are key to job and business opportunities post the internship tenure. The Interns are also expected to come up with projects through which they can improve their communities and obtain a sustainable livelihoods. We wish the new group of MasterCard Foundation IV, all the best as they go out to the field to be part of the Change they wish to see in their communities!
