Getting to work: The participants preparing mandazi

The year 2012 started with group of 24 youths enrolling for ReachUp! training in Altawoon Youth Center in the Korogocho Slums of Nairobi. The group was composed of 10 women and 14 men, all aged between eighteen and twenty-five years. With such a youthful class I did not notice a month and a half elapsing, as each day was always filled with energy and enthusiasm.

On February 28,2012, DOT Kenya's Kericho based facilitator Anne Akida organised a closing ceremony for her participants. The participants had been undergoing a ReachUp! training at Kericho Youth Centre. She shares the following account from the ceremony:

"The closing ceremony was held on 28th February 2012 at Kericho Youth Centre(KYC). The occasion was held between 1.00pm-4.00pm. We started with a word of prayer from Anne Osiaga; one of the participants. Introductions were done everyone stating their places of residence.
