23 years old Joseph Mulwa and 24 years old Joseph Munyao completed their "O" level education in the year 2010 with high expectations of joining institutions of higher learning. However, as luck would have it, their parents could not afford to pay their college fees and they had to stay at home without much to do. The idleness soon dictated the type of crowd that they hang out and interacted with; drug abusing youth who had no goals for the future. Being unproductive soon began to bug them…
On Friday, 12th October DOT Kenya hosted a luncheon for its ReachUp! program Alumni at the JJ McCarthy center in Nairobi. The meeting was to officially introduce the DOT Kenya alumni network; a network that aims at creating a functional and beneficial association of former DOT Interns which will help them achieve continuous professional growth and create a resource of mentors for future Interns. The meeting brought together 34 former DOT Kenya Interns who had worked in various regions of the country delivering the ReachUp! and StartUp! Programs since 2006 to date.

After taking the ReachUp! program over one year ago, about 20 participants from Sosiot in Eldoret are still held together by the desire to make use of information obtained from the program to develop socially and economically.
