Denis Wanyonyi is a ReachUp! program participant from Bungoma at a Community Based Organization known as Biliso Farmers Field School. The area facilitator, Keithline Wamocha had a chat with him about the program and this is what he had to say.
Denis Wanyonyi: "The ReachUp! program can literally be said to be God-sent. I have learnt so much about myself, business environment and technology and I have come to realize that I have been wasting a lot of time and resources without doing much. It has been pleasure gaining knowledge and I am really encouraged and happy that currently I can use the little resources I have to make my life now and the future to be better.
I am now aware of the various business resources such as land and its importance in creation of sustainable livelihoods. Business planning and record keeping sessions have been very beneficial as I can now properly plan activities and run a business. Another key business aspect is networking. Knowledge of who to contact for supplies and when you want to improve the scope of your business is very important."
Wanyonyi also says that the basic computer knowledge that he has acquired will help a great deal when he starts running a business. He is very excited that he is now able to switch a computer on and off and promises to share the information he has garnered so far with his community
"I also wish to ask that you expand this program since it will educate more people in the villages or rural places just as we are now gaining," he says, "I personally believe that changes have started now and the impact will continue forever. I sincerely thank my facilitator for volunteering to give us these ideas that have brought so much insight in us the leaders of tomorrow."

Great! It's an opportunity for the rural folks to put into practice what they have learnt and share it too
