DOT Kenya mourns the passing of Anthony Kimani, a DOT Intern who was newly hired to deliver the ReachUp! program.

RIP Anthony.jpg

Anthony Kimani

It is with shock and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of DOT Kenya Intern Anthony Kimani. Anthony was a newly recruited Intern who completed training last week at St. Christophers' in Karen, Nairobi, and had been set to start facilitating the ReachUp! program in January 2012. Anthony passed away after a short illness.

Many who were with Anthony at the training remember him as a very good-hearted person who was always willing to go out of his way to help others. During the training Anthony was put in charge of the computer lab and would always ensure everything was in order and safely kept.

The DOT Kenya team is quite close, and the passing of a friend and coworker brings great sadness. Rita Muthoni, the resident staff during the Intern training in which Anthony participated, remembers Anthony as "outgoing, focused, friendly and always willing to take up any duties assigned to him."

Our hearts go out to Anthony's family during this difficult time.

This is  a big loss but God knows better why this happened to Kim. As human we have no option but to accept and carry on.  We have lost a leader and a man of the people. I remember waking him up at night to assist with laptops and modems and he could just do it without complain. a servant of the people, good hearted and maintained good relationships with everyone. We will miss u Kim, Rest in peace though, If God would be asked Questions, I would ask why?

Jesus Christ!

I remember the departure day on saturday morning i had given Kimani my phone to charge it in the computer room since in our sleeping rooms there were no sockets. He left the phone there and locked it .When it was time for me to leave i went up and down looking for him only to find him in his room packing. We talked alot ,he was so happy and told me he was ready for ReachUP ! He suprised me later that my phone had been stolen which i beleived ,only later to tell me that it was a joke and he gave me my phone. If life is cut short like that ,i feel so sad ...May the most Holy of Holies Rest His Soul in Enternal Life!

It is really sad to loose such a dear one within the DOT family. I still can't believe that we lost such a devoted person. I have no words to express myself.

I would like to thank Andrew Abongo, the 13 interns who accompanied us to his burial and the entire DOT family, for the support you offered in one way or another. We had a chat with his family members and we gathered that it was a great loose to them, particularly because he was the last born in their family. The family appreciated our presence and us as the DOT family, assured them of our support.
